The Challenge
On an injection molded part, a critical area was developing excess flash. Upon a closer look, the issue was inherent to the design of the part & couldn’t be remedied by altering the mold or part.
The Solution
RTD was tasked with designing & building a machine that would be placed on the production floor. The machine would need to remove flash from 4 holes in 15 seconds or less, without leaving residue and with the ability to run 3 shifts a day for approximately 3 years.
The Result
The machine has been running for more than 1 year with only minor maintenance issues. Approximately 150k pcs to date.
